  9. Duplizieren dieser Diskette:

  11.        Diese Diskette sollte nur mit Hilfe des DOS-Programms
  12.        DISKCOPY kopiert werden, da andere Kopierprogramme
  13.        (z.B.: COPY oder XCOPY) Dateiflags löschen.
  14.  
  15. Hardwarekonflikte:
  16.  
  17.        Grundsätzlich gilt: Der Betrieb einer 8514/A Graphikkarte
  18.        zusammen mit einer ARCnet Netzwerkkarte kann zu Adreß-
  19.        konflikten führen. Kontrollieren Sie vor der Installation
  20.        der miroCRYSTAL Karte, ob die I/O Adresse der Netzwerkkarte
  21.        2E0h ist. In diesem Fall muß sie in einen anderen freien
  22.        Bereich, vorzugsweise zwischen 300h und 340h, verlagert
  23.        werden.
  24.  
  25.        Es gibt auch andere Einsteckkarten, die den Bus-Reset
  26.        unterdrücken. Dies äußert sich in Phänomene wie "flaues Text-
  27.        bild" oder eine CRYSTAL 8.24 wird als CRYSTAL 4.16 erkannt.
  28.        Dann kann es nötig werden, der miroCRYSTAL ihre ansonsten
  29.        automatisch ermittelte Konfiguration per Software mitzuteilen:
  30.        Dazu muß in der Autoexec.bat die eingefügte Zeile
  31.        C:\CRYSTAL\MAGICINI -L
  32.        um die Parameter -2MB für CRYSTAL 8.24
  33.               oder      -1MB für CRYSTAL 4.16
  34.               und       -DL  für Einschirmbetrieb
  35.               oder      -DS  für Zweischirmbetrieb
  36.        erweitert werden. Also zum Beispiel:
  37.        C:\CRYSTAL\MAGICINI -L -2MB -DL für eine CRYSTAL 8.24 im
  38.        Einschirmbetrieb. Es kann allerdings vorkommen, daß bis zu dieser
  39.        Initialisierung der Text flau erscheint. Einsteckkarten, die diesen
  40.        Effekt hervorrufen können:
  41.        ADAPTEC 1542
  42.        ULTRASTOR 24F
  43.        einige IDE-Controller
  44.  
  45. Kompatibilität:
  46.  
  47.        Abweichend zum Handbuch haben wir im Zusammenspiel der
  48.        miroCRYSTAL mit einigen INTEL-386DX 25MHz Motherboards Pro-
  49.        bleme gefunden. In einigen Motherboards läuft die miroCRYSTAL
  50.        nicht. Dieses Problem ließ sich nicht auf eine Revision
  51.        des Motherboards reduzieren, da es innerhalb einer Serie
  52.        sowohl funktionierende als auch nicht taugliche Boards
  53.        gibt.
  54.  
  55. Windows 3.X im Enhanced Mode:
  56.  
  57.        Diese Betriebsart läuft in manchen Konfigurationen erst
  58.        nach einfügen von EMMEXCLUDE=C400-C7FF in die Datei
  59.        SYSTEM.INI unter [386enh]. In diesem Bereich haben
  60.        erweiterte VGA-Karten zusätzlichen Speicher, der vor
  61.        Zugriffen durch den Windows-Memory-Manager geschützt
  62.        werden muß.
  63.  
  64. Windows 3.0 mit 640x480 Echtfarben-Auflösung:
  65.  
  66.        Windows 3.0 hat im Echtfarbenmodus einen Programmfehler. Dieser
  67.        ist in der Datei GDI.EXE lokalisiert. Wir haben zur einfachen
  68.        Behebung des Fehlers nach Hinweis von Microsoft ein Programm
  69.        entwickelt: PATCHGDI.EXE.
  70.        Aufruf: PATCHGDI \Windows-Systempfad
  71.        z.B.: PATCHGDI c:\windows\system
  72.        Patchgdi kopiert daraufhin die alte Datei GDI.EXE nach GDI.OLD
  73.        und verändert die Datei GDI.EXE.
  74.        Diese veränderte Datei ist auch für alle anderen Betriebsarten
  75.        einsatzfähig.
  76.  
  77. Bekannte Probleme mit Windows 3.X:
  78.  
  79.        Bei allen Auflösungen kann es zu Schwierigkeiten mit der DOS-
  80.        Vollbild bzw. -Box Darstellung kommen (keine Eingabe über Tastatur
  81.        möglich oder nicht korrekte Farbpalette). Dies ist ein Fehler in
  82.        Microsofts VGADIB.3GR und wird nicht durch uns behoben.
  83.        Ein Betrieb der miroCRYSTAL mit einer Hercules-Monochromkarte oder
  84.        eines Monochrom-Display-Adapters ohne zusätzliche VGA ist in
  85.        Verbindung mit Windows nicht möglich. Windows hat keinen Treiber
  86.        für den virtuellen Betrieb einer Monochromkarte.
  87.  
  88. AutoCAD mit DSMAGIC (miroGTI4)
  89.  
  90.        Bekannte Probleme:
  91.  
  92.        1. Wenn der Aufbau einer Zeichnung mit CTRL-C unterbrochen wird,
  93.           können keine lokalen Befehle wie ZOOM, PAN etc. durchgeführt
  94.           werden. Durch Eingabe von REGEN oder erneutes Laden der Zeich-
  95.           nung kann dieser Zustand beendet werden.
  96.  
  97.           Bei Verwendung des miroSPOTVIEW innerhalb von Befehlen, bei
  98.           denen die AutoCAD-Funktion ZOOM gesperrt ist (z.B. DANSICHT,
  99.           AutoCAD ZOOM D) kann es zu Fehlern in der Zeichnungsdarstel-
  100.           lung kommen. Die Ausführung des Befehls REGEN löst diese
  101.           Probleme.
  102.  
  103.        2. Fehler mit dem Tablet 'is/one' des Herstellers Kurta:
  104.  
  105.           Sollte das SPOTVIEW-Fenster springen, konfigurieren Sie bitte
  106.           Ihr Tablett auf 'low-resolution'. Dies hat keinen Einfluß auf
  107.           die Auflösung ihrer miroCRYSTAL Grafikkarte.
  108.  
  109.        3. Wenn Sie Eingaben nicht mit 'RETURN' bzw. 'SPACE' abgeschlos-
  110.           sen haben und das SPOTVIEW-Fenster abbauen, wird der Cursor
  111.           nur in dem Bereich dargestellt, der durch den Rahmen des
  112.           SPOTVIEW eingegrenzt wurde. Durch ZOOM ALLES kann der ursprüng-
  113.           liche Zustand wiederhergestellt werden.
  114.  
  115.        4. Wenn Sie das SPOTVIEW Feature benutzen, werden Gummiband-
  116.           Cursor, die aus mehr als einem Element bestehen (z.B. Kreise
  117.           oder Ellipsen), falsch bzw. mehrfach gezeichnet, wenn Sie das
  118.           SPOTVIEW Fenster verschieben oder verlassen.
  119.  
  120.        5. Wenn Sie den Cursor in das lokale Pan und Zoomfeld am rechten
  121.           Bildschirmrand oder den Bereich mit den Zoomfaktoren am oberen
  122.           Bildschirmrand bewegt haben, werden Eingaben über die Tastatur
  123.           nicht berücksichtigt.
  124.  
  125.        6. Während eines Zeichenbefehls mit Texteingabe (z.B. Bem, Text,
  126.           Dtext) ist die Verwendung der lokalen Zoom Dynamic Funktion
  127.           nicht sinnvoll, da eventuell falsche Texte in die Zeichnung
  128.           eingefügt werden. Mit dem Befehl Z kann dieser Vorgang rück-
  129.           gängig gemacht werden.
  130.  
  131.        7. Die Betätigung von CTRL-C während der lokalen Funktion Zoom
  132.           Dynamisch führt zu einer Zerstörung des Birdeyes. Mit einem
  133.           Regen kann der normale Zustand wiederhergestellt werden.
  134.  
  135.        8. Die griechische Zeichensatzauswahl ist noch nicht unterstützt
  136.           und kann nicht ausgewählt werden. Der entsprechende Menüpunkt
  137.           muß mit nein beantwortet werden.
  138.  
  139. Monitoreinstellungen unter OS/2
  140.         
  141.         Bei bestimmten Konfigurationen kann es zum Hängenbleiben der 
  142.         DOS-Task kommen. Sollte dieser Fall auftreten, so sollte die
  143.         Task geschlossen und die Diskette in ein Unterverzeichnis Ihrer 
  144.         Festplatte kopiert werden. Von dort kann die Installation
  145.         problemlos erfolgen.
  146.  
  147. Word Perfect 5.X:
  148.  
  149.        Bei Word Perfect sollte für den Grafikmodus der 8514/A-Treiber
  150.        ausgewählt werden. Für den Textschirm empfehlen wir alternativ
  151.        zu Standard VGA-Treiber den in Word Perfect enthaltenen
  152.        "Paradise VGA Plus"-Treiber. Mit diesem Treiber ist es möglich,
  153.        132x25 oder 132x43 Zeichen im Editiermodus zu nutzen. Von
  154.        unserer Hardware wird nur der jeweilige "color"-Modus unterstützt.
  155.  
  156. PC-Draft:
  157.  
  158.       Der PC-Draft Treiber funktioniert nur wenn eine zweite VGA zusätzlich
  159.       installiert und die Onboard VGA der miroCRYSTAL abgeschaltet ist.

  161. Generic CADD:
  162.  
  163.        Nachdem Generic CADD einmal verlassen wurde, ist ein Neustart
  164.        des Rechners notwendig, um Generic CADD erneut starten zu können.

  170. Back-up copy:

  172.        To create a back-up copy of your installation disks as
  173.        recommended in the User's Manual, make sure to use the
  174.        DOS DISKCOPY command only. This preserves the read-only
  175.        attributes of all files, which are needed by the INSTALL
  176.        program in order to work correctly.
  177.  
  178. Hardware conflicts:
  179.  
  180.        In principle: Running an 8514/A graphics card together
  181.        with an ARCnet network card can lead to address
  182.        conflicts. Before you install your miroCRYSTAL card check
  183.        whether the network card occupies the I/O address 2E0h.
  184.        In this case you have to change said address to another,
  185.        unoccupied one, preferably between 300h and 340h.
  186.  
  187.        We have found some plugIn-Boards, that suppress the RESET of
  188.        the AT-Bus. The visible phenomena are a vga text with low
  189.        brightness or a CRYSTAL 8.24 is detected as a CRYSTAL 4.16.
  190.        In this case it is necessary to override the automatic
  191.        configuration detection of the miro board by a software
  192.        command. The AUTOEXEC.BAT contains after Installation of
  193.        the miroMAGIC a line "C:\CRYSTAL\MAGICINI -L". Add to this line
  194.        the parameters -2MB for CRYSTAL 8.24
  195.                   or  -1MB for CRYSTAL 4.16
  196.                  and  -DL for single screen mode
  197.                  or   -DS for dual screen mode
  198.        Example: c:\CRYSTAL\MAGICINI -L -2MB -DL for a CRYSTAL 8.24 in
  199.        single screen mode. It is possible, that up to this
  200.        initialisation the text has low brightness.
  201.        Some known boards, that could be source of this problem:
  202.        ADAPTEC 1542
  203.        ULTRASTOR 24F
  204.        some IDE-Controllers
  205.  
  206.  
  207. Compatibility:
  208.  
  209.        We have found some problems running the miroCRYSTAL with
  210.        a few genuine INTEL 386-25 motherboards. These problems
  211.        are not limited to one series of motherboards. It occurs
  212.        with a few boards within a series.
  213.  
  214. Windows 3.X in Enhanced Mode:
  215.  
  216.        Running WIN 3.X with some SuperVGAs and miroCRYSTAL in enhanced
  217.        386-Mode is sometimes only possible if the line
  218.        EMMEXCLUDE = C400 - C7FF
  219.        is included in the [386enh]-part of the file SYSTEM.INI.
  220.        These VGAs have additional memory in this area, that has to
  221.        be protected against access.
  222.  
  223. Windows 3.0 with 640x480 True Color resolution:
  224.  
  225.        Windows 3.0 has a program error in True Color Mode,
  226.        located in the file GDI.EXE. After consulting with
  227.        Microsoft we developed the program PATCHGDI.EXE to
  228.        take care of this problem.
  229.        Call: PATCHGDI \Windows system path
  230.        For ex.: PATCHGDI c:\windows\system
  231.        Now Patchgdi copies the old file GDI.EXE to GDI.OLD
  232.        and changes the file GDI.EXE.
  233.        You can also use this newly changed for all other operating
  234.        modes.
  235.  
  236. Known Bugs with Windows 3.x:
  237.  
  238.        DOS text attributes sometimes become corrupted when switching
  239.        between and full screen DOS application. This is caused by an
  240.        error in Microsoft's VGADIB.3GR grabber routines and will not
  241.        be fixed by miro. Windows does not run if you have a monochrome
  242.        adapter as a single primary adapter in conjunction with a
  243.        miroCRYSTAL. Windows has no VDD for the monochrom adapter.
  244.  
  245.  
  246. AutoCAD with DSMAGIC (miroGTI4)
  247.  
  248.        Known Problems:
  249.  
  250.        If the initial building up of a drawing has been interrupted
  251.        by CTRL-C, the driver is not able to execute local Functions
  252.        like zoom and pan. By entering the AutoCAD REGEN command or
  253.        loading the drawing again you are able to end this status.
  254.  
  255.        Using the spotVIEW, while AutoCAD commands that don't allow
  256.        a transparent zoom are active (like DVIEW or AutoCAD ZOOM D)
  257.        results in a misalignment between the cursor and the displayed
  258.        drawing.To fix this problem, execute the 'REGEN' command.
  259.  
  260.        Error when using the tablet labeled 'is/one' from Kurta:
  261.  
  262.        If you encounter some sort of jumping opening the spotview-
  263.        window, you should reconfigure your tablett to 'low-resolution'
  264.        mode. This has no influence to the resolution of your miroCRYSTAL.
  265.  
  266.        If you have not completed keyboard input with 'RETURN' or
  267.        'SPACE' and close the SPOTVIEW-window, the cursor is not drawn
  268.        over the whole screen. Executing the command ZOOM ALL will
  269.        normalize the screen.
  270.  
  271.        When using the SPOTVIEW feature, rubberbands consisting of more
  272.        than 1 element (eg. circles or ellipses) are drawn twice if you
  273.        move the SPOTVIEW window while drawing the circle.
  274.  
  275.        If the cursor is in the local pan and zoom facilty on the right
  276.        side of the screen or in the zoomfactor region at the top of
  277.        the screen, no keyboard input is accepted.
  278.  
  279.        If you are drawing text with Autocad (eg. DIM, TEXT, DTEXT),
  280.        executing the local ZOOM DYNAMIC of your MAGICGTI driver is
  281.        not usefull. In some cases, wrong strings are drawn. You can
  282.        fix this by executing the UNDO function build into AutoCAD.
  283.  
  284.        Using CTRL-C while using the local Zoom dynamic function can
  285.        destroy the birdeye on a second monitor. To resume, execute
  286.        the AutoCAD regen function.
  287.  
  288.        The greek characterset is not yet supported. This menupoint
  289.        should be answered "no".
  290.  
  291. Monitorselection with OS/2
  292.  
  293.         At different configurations your DOS task may hang at the monitor
  294.         selection. In that case you can close this task and copy the
  295.         entire miro installation disk onto your harddisk and try again.
  296.  
  297. Word Perfect 5.X:
  298.  
  299.        For the graphical preview function the 8514/A driver is
  300.        recommended. For the textscreen we advise you to use the
  301.        "Paradise VGA Plus" - driver instead of the standard VGA
  302.        driver. It gives you the higher resolution of 132x25 or
  303.        132x43 characters. On our hardware is only the "color"
  304.        mode implemented.
  305.  
  306. PC-Draft:
  307.  
  308.        The application driver can only be used when a second VGA board
  309.        has been installed and the onboard VGA of the miroCRYSTAL has
  310.        been switched off.

  312. Generic CADD:
  313.  
  314.        After quiting Generic CADD a system reboot is necessary to
  315.        use it again.
